Formation and Early Years (1993–2006)

Rhapsody of Fire, originally known as Rhapsody, emerged onto the symphonic power metal scene in 1993 under the name Thundercross. Led by Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli, the band quickly made a name for themselves as pioneers of the genre. With a string of successful albums like 'Legendary Tales' (1997) and 'Symphony of Enchanted Lands' (1998), Rhapsody solidified their place in metal history.

However, in 2006, the band faced a trademark issue and decided to change their name to Rhapsody of Fire. This marked a new chapter for the band as they continued to produce epic, fantasy-driven music that captivated audiences worldwide.

Turilli's Departure and New Beginnings (2011–2016)

In 2011, after the release of 'From Chaos to Eternity', which concluded The Dark Secret Saga, co-founder Luca Turilli departed Rhapsody of Fire on good terms to form his own band, Luca Turilli's Rhapsody. Along with fellow band members Dominique Leurquin and Patrice Guers, Turilli embarked on a new musical journey that was seen as a parallel continuation of Rhapsody of Fire's legacy.

The following years saw more changes in the Rhapsody of Fire lineup, with Fabio Lione and Alex Holzwarth leaving the band in 2016. This led to a reunion of former members for the 20th Anniversary Farewell Tour, showcasing the enduring bond and musical prowess of the original lineup.

Legacy and Turilli's Rhapsody (2016–2023)

In December 2018, Luca Turilli announced the formation of a new band, Turilli / Lione Rhapsody, which featured the lineup from the 20th Anniversary Farewell Tour. This marked a new chapter in the Rhapsody saga, with the band recreating the magic of the original lineup's golden years.

Despite the various lineup changes and spin-off bands, Rhapsody of Fire's legacy remains strong in the metal community. Their symphonic power metal sound and epic storytelling have influenced countless bands and continue to inspire a new generation of metal musicians.
