Formation and Debut Success (1996–2000)

Kittie, the Canadian heavy metal sensation, burst onto the scene in 1996 when guitarist Fallon Bowman and drummer Mercedes Lander decided to form a band that would challenge the norms of the genre. With the addition of guitarist and vocalist Morgan Lander and bassist Tanya Candler in the following year, Kittie was born.

Their debut album, Spit, released in 1999 under Ng Records and later Artemis Records, showcased a unique blend of nu metal sound that resonated with fans worldwide. Selling over 600,000 copies in the US alone, Spit was a commercial success and solidified Kittie's place in the metal scene.

Exploring New Sounds (2001–2007)

As Kittie continued to evolve, their sound took a heavier turn with albums like Oracle (2001) and Until the End (2004). The band experimented with alternative metal, groove metal, and death metal elements, creating a more aggressive yet melodic sound that captivated audiences.

Despite their artistic growth, Kittie struggled to replicate the commercial success of Spit and eventually parted ways with Artemis Records in 2005. Undeterred, the band launched their own label, X of Infamy, and released their fourth album, Funeral for Yesterday, in 2007, showcasing their resilience and determination.

Hiatus and Reunion (2009–2018)

After a period of uncertainty, Kittie signed with eOne Music in 2009 and released In the Black (2009) and I've Failed You (2011) with bassist Ivana 'Ivy' Jenkins. Following the release of I've Failed You, Kittie announced an indefinite hiatus, allowing members to explore other musical endeavors.

In 2018, Kittie celebrated their 20th anniversary with the release of a documentary, Kittie: Origins/Evolutions, and a one-off reunion concert. The band's legacy and impact on the metal scene were undeniable, solidifying their status as icons in the genre.

Reunion and New Horizons (2022–present)

In a thrilling turn of events, Kittie reunited in 2022 to perform at prestigious festivals like Blue Ridge Rock and When We Were Young, delighting fans with their electrifying performances. Their long-awaited comeback culminated in the release of their first album in 13 years, Fire, through Sumerian Records on June 21, 2024.

With their unmistakable sound and unwavering passion, Kittie continues to inspire a new generation of metal enthusiasts, proving that their legacy is timeless and their influence on the genre is everlasting.
