A History of Hạc San

Formation and Early Years (2012–2014)

Hạc San emerged from the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh in 2012, born out of the ashes of guitarist Dũng Phạm's former band, Final Stage. The band initially known as Kamejoko, underwent lineup changes and a shift in musical direction towards progressive metal, blending elements of Vietnamese folklore into their sound.

With the addition of drummer Yvol Enuol and keyboardist Thế Phong, Hạc San solidified their lineup and began crafting their unique brand of progressive metal. They made waves in the Vietnamese music scene, debuting in the Vietnamese Tiger Translate – Battle of the Bands and earning accolades in Vietnam Television's gameshow Vietnamese Songs.

Rise to Prominence (2015–2017)

In 2015, Hạc San released their debut album, 'Sét đánh ngang trời' (Lightning Strikes Across the Sky), based on the Vietnamese fairy tale Thạch Sanh. The album garnered critical acclaim and was named one of the 'Vietnamese rock highlights' in 2015.

The band continued to make strides in the music scene, winning awards and performing in various music festivals. Their music video for 'Bí mật của người ra đi' caught the attention of fans and critics alike, solidifying their place in the progressive metal landscape.

Conceptual Expansion and Second Album (2020–present)

In April 2020, Hạc San released their second album, 'Hồn – trăng – máu' (Spirit – Moon – Blood), drawing inspiration from the life of Vietnamese poet Hàn Mặc Tử. The band's evolution in sound and lyrical themes showcased their growth and maturity as musicians.

Despite lineup changes over the years, Hạc San's dedication to pushing the boundaries of progressive metal and incorporating Vietnamese cultural elements into their music remains unwavering.
