Blind Guardian fans can anticipate a new album that harks back to the band’s more melodic, old-fashioned style, according to frontman Hansi Kürsch. In a recent interview, Kürsch discussed the evolution of the band’s sound, noting that while future albums may feature classical composing, they are unlikely to match the grand orchestration of their previous effort, “Legacy of The Dark Lands”.
With the band currently on tour in North America, Kürsch revealed that the upcoming album will not immediately follow the tour’s conclusion. Instead, the band plans to take a break to focus on songwriting and family life. Kürsch expressed confidence that the new material will embody the essence of Blind Guardian while possibly exploring a more melodic and traditional direction.
While a specific release date for the next album has not been confirmed, Kürsch hinted at a potential 2027 launch, allowing ample time for composing and production. He emphasized the band’s commitment to delivering quality music and hinted at a subsequent tour to support the new release.
Blind Guardian’s current tour showcases their acclaimed album “Somewhere Far Beyond”, bringing the epic metal experience to audiences across North America. The tour features special guests Ensiferum and Seven Kingdoms, promising fans a memorable evening of metal performances.
Reflecting on the band’s songwriting process, Kürsch shared insights into their creative approach, highlighting the blend of passion, expertise, and ongoing excitement that fuels their music. Despite the band’s extensive discography and global touring, the members remain dedicated to exploring new musical territories and keeping their songwriting fresh.
Blind Guardian’s previous album, “The God Machine”, marked a significant release for the band, showcasing a unique production style that set it apart from earlier works like “Beyond The Red Mirror”. The band’s meticulous approach to song treatment in the studio contributed to the album’s distinct sound and reception among fans.
Prior to “The God Machine”, Blind Guardian released the orchestral album “Twilight Orchestra: Legacy Of The Dark Lands”, a collaborative project with bestselling author Markus Heitz. The band’s diverse discography reflects their willingness to experiment with different genres and storytelling formats.
With a core trio consisting of Kürsch, lead guitarist André Olbrich, and rhythm guitarist Marcus Siepen, Blind Guardian continues to captivate audiences with their dynamic sound and enduring creativity. Drummer Frederik Ehmke, who joined the band in 2005, has played a pivotal role in shaping their evolving musical landscape.
As Blind Guardian looks ahead to the future, fans can expect a blend of classic melodies, innovative compositions, and a continued commitment to delivering high-quality music that resonates with audiences worldwide.
