About the Band

Lonely People with Power is the sixth studio album by American metal band Deafheaven, released on March 28, 2025, through Roadrunner Records. It was the band's first album since joining the label in 2024. Having previously completely abandoned black metal elements on 2021's Infinite Granite, Lonely People with Power saw Deafheaven return to their usual blackgaze sound. The album was universally acclaimed by critics, and was named a top-ten release of the year by publications such as Consequence, Decibel, Exclaim!, Kerrang! and The Ringer.

Album Review

The Lonely's latest offering, 'Beyond The Wounds', delves deep into the realms of black metal and blackgaze, creating a hauntingly beautiful yet melancholic atmosphere. The production quality on this album is top-notch, with each instrument and vocal layer blending seamlessly to create a wall of sound that envelops the listener. Standout tracks like 'Isolated Life' and 'Abyss Of Isolation' showcase the band's ability to seamlessly transition between aggressive black metal riffs and ethereal shoegaze melodies. 'Beyond The Wounds' fits perfectly in The Lonely's career, showcasing their evolution as musicians while staying true to their roots in depressive black metal.
