About the Band
Taake (Norwegian: [ΛtΓ΄ΛkΙ]) is a Norwegian black metal band from Bergen, formed in 1993 and originally named Thule. The band's one continuous member is Hoest, who writes all and records most of the music. Taake has released eight full-length albums and several EPs. The band describes itself as "True Norwegian black metal", and Hoest said he wants to "awaken national pride and cultural nostalgia" in Norwegian listeners as well as to remind people "that Hell is right here on Earth and that humans can be demons".

Album Review
Taake's latest album 'Et hav av avstand' delivers a haunting and raw heavy metal experience that transports listeners to a desolate landscape shrouded in mystery. The atmospheric soundscapes created by the band are truly immersive, with each track painting a vivid picture of desolation and despair. The production quality on this album is top-notch, capturing the raw energy of Taake's performance while also allowing the intricate details of their music to shine through. Standout tracks like 'Denne forblaaste ruin av en bro' and 'Et uhyre av en kniv' showcase the band's ability to blend aggressive riffing with melodic intricacies, creating a dynamic listening experience. 'Et hav av avstand' fits seamlessly into Taake's discography, further solidifying their reputation as masters of Norwegian black metal.
