Semblant, a rising star in the hard rock scene of South America, has released their highly anticipated album “Obscura.” Following their successful 2014 release “Lunar Manifesto,” Semblant has garnered international praise and over 30 million views on YouTube.
Formed in 2006 in Curitiba, Brazil, by vocalist Sergio Mazul and keyboard player J. Augusto, Semblant blends doom, gothic, thrash, and death influences to create a unique melodic death metal sound with dark and extreme undertones.
The album kicks off with “Murder of Crows,” showcasing Mazul and Lin’s vocal prowess over a frenzied blast beat. The dynamic vocal interplay continues in tracks like “Left Behind,” where Mizuho Lin’s powerful voice complements Mazul’s growls, adding depth to the band’s sound.
“Dethrone The Gods, Control The Masters (Legacy Of Blood Part IV)” features driving beats and intense guitar work, with Lin’s soaring vocals adding a melodic touch. The album maintains its energy with tracks like “Mere Shadow,” highlighting the band’s cohesive sound and musical prowess.
Tracks like “Porcelain” offer a softer approach, showcasing Lin’s versatility, while “The Hunter, The Hunger (Legacy Of Blood Part V)” delivers relentless energy and powerful performances from the band.
From the relentless pace of “Wasteland” to the intricate guitar work in “Wallachia,” Semblant’s musical diversity shines through. “Daydream Tragedy” adds a touch of balladry to the album, demonstrating the band’s ability to vary their sound while maintaining quality.
“Insomnia,” a bonus track on some formats, encapsulates Semblant’s signature sound with a pounding beat and powerful vocals. With their solid third release, Semblant, despite lineup changes, continues to impress listeners.
Having recently signed to Frontiers Records, Semblant is poised to reach a wider audience with “Obscura.” Fans can catch them on their rescheduled European Tour and experience their symphonic death metal sound firsthand.
Released on Frontiers Music in March 2020, “Obscura” showcases Semblant’s evolution and musical maturity. With a tracklist that includes standout songs like “Murder Of Crows” and “Daydream Tragedy,” Semblant’s latest offering is a testament to their growth as a band.
Stay tuned for more from Semblant and follow them on their journey as they continue to make their mark in the metal music scene.
