Australia’s first ‘wastelander festival’, POX-ECLIPSE, is set to make a return this year with its Gulag event, scheduled to take place at the Southern Cross SX Speedway in Southern Cross from Thursday, October 10 to Sunday, October 13. Inspired by the iconic Mad Max film series, the festival promises attendees an unforgettable experience filled with firepit storytelling, immersive live-action role-play, and days and nights of lively dance performances.
Featuring two stages, POX-ECLIPSE will showcase up to twenty bands offering a diverse range of musical genres. Among the confirmed acts are desert stoner rockers Death by Carrot, grunge punk outfit AppleBite, industrial groove metal band All This Filth, and many more. The festival's co-producers, Damon and Kristan Angel, drew inspiration from their shared passion for fast cars, heavy music, and the Mad Max universe to create a unique festival experience for enthusiasts.
The concept of POX-ECLIPSE originated from the desire to provide a platform for like-minded individuals to come together and celebrate their shared love for creative freedom. Drawing influence from renowned events such as Wasteland Weekend, the producers aimed to establish an immersive space where attendees could engage in a post-apocalyptic-themed extravaganza, paying homage to Australia's rich history in the genre.
Attendees at POX-ECLIPSE have the opportunity to register as a 'clan' when attending in groups of four or more, allowing them to set up camp within the festival's 'township' walls. Clans enhance the overall experience by creating interactive activities and experiences that align with the post-apocalyptic theme of the event. Participants can also bring their Mad Max-themed vehicles to join in various activities or camp within the festival's Black Thumb quarter.
POX-ECLIPSE offers a thematic experience that seamlessly blends elements of car culture, music, and role-playing within a vibrant community of creative individuals. The event prides itself on fostering a sense of passion and dedication among its volunteers who work tirelessly to bring the festival to life. With a strong emphasis on participation, attendees can expect a wide array of engaging activities and entertainment throughout the weekend.
As a fully licensed event, POX-ECLIPSE prohibits attendees from bringing their own alcohol. The festival is scheduled to take place at the Southern Cross SX Speedway from October 10 to October 13, 2024. For those interested in attending and purchasing tickets, more information is available on the official website.
