About the Band

Hellripper is a one-man black/speed metal band formed by Scottish musician James McBain in 2014. Cited musical influences include black metal bands such as Venom and Darkthrone, thrash metal bands Megadeth, Metallica and Sabbat, and punk-oriented bands like MotΓΆrhead and Anti-Cimex. Lyrically, Hellripper focuses on witchcraft, Occult, and Satanic themes, sometimes drawing from historical events, eg. the possession of Anneliese Michel, as in the song "Anneliese", or the Affair of the Poisons in the song of the same name.

Album Review

Hellripper's split album with Batsheva is a relentless onslaught of pure heavy metal energy. From the opening track 'Hell’s Rock ’n’ Roll' to the closing 'Inverted Gravity,' the band delivers a perfect blend of speed, aggression, and melody. The production quality is raw and gritty, adding to the overall atmosphere of chaos and rebellion. Standout tracks like 'Armed With the End' showcase Hellripper's ability to create catchy riffs and memorable choruses, while 'Liturgy of Endless Night' displays their darker and more atmospheric side. This release fits perfectly in the band's career, solidifying their position as one of the most exciting acts in the modern heavy metal scene.
