About the Band
The Hu (stylized as The HU; pronounced as "the who") is a Mongolian folk metal band formed in 2016 in Ulaanbaatar. Incorporating traditional Mongolian instrumentation, including the morin khuur, the tovshuur, and throat singing, the band calls their style of music "hunnu rock", a term inspired by the Xiongnu, an ancient nomadic empire based in Mongolia proper, known as HΓΌnnΓΌ in Mongolian. Some of the band's lyrics include old Mongolian war cries and poetry in the Mongolian language. The Hu consists of Galbadrakh "Gala" Tsendbaatar, Nyamjantsan "Jaya" Galsanjamts, Enkhsaikhan "Enkush" Batjargal, and Temuulen "Temka" Naranbaatar. They have released the studio albums The Gereg (2019) and Rumble of Thunder (2022).

Album Review
The Gereg by The HU is a mesmerizing blend of folk metal and rock that transports listeners to the vast Mongolian steppes. The album is a powerful tribute to the band's heritage, with traditional throat singing, horsehead fiddles, and heavy guitar riffs creating a unique and captivating sound. Standout tracks like 'Wolf Totem' and 'Yuve Yuve Yu' showcase the band's ability to seamlessly mix ancient and modern influences. The production quality is impeccable, with each instrument and vocal line coming through with clarity and strength. The Gereg is a remarkable sophomore effort that solidifies The HU's place as one of the most exciting bands in the metal scene today.
