About the Band
Darkthrone is a Norwegian heavy metal band from Kolbotn, Akershus. Formed in 1986 as a death metal band named Black Death, in the early 1990s, Darkthrone switched to a black metal style influenced by Bathory and Celtic Frost, and were one of the leading bands in the Norwegian black metal scene. Darkthrone has been a duo consisting of Fenriz and Nocturno Culto since guitarist Zephyrous left the group in 1993. The band has released 22 studio albums, but do not perform live and have sought to remain outside the mainstream. The band's debut, Soulside Journey (1991), was their only death metal studio album.

Album Review
Darkthrone's latest album, 'It Beckons Us All', is a masterclass in raw and unapologetic heavy metal. The band's signature sound of blackened thrash is on full display, with aggressive riffs and pounding drums creating a dark and menacing atmosphere throughout. Standout tracks like 'Howling Primitive Colonies' and 'The Heavy Hand' showcase the band's ability to blend ferocity with melody, while 'The Bird People of Nordland' takes listeners on a haunting journey through the band's Nordic influences. The production quality is top-notch, capturing the raw energy of the band's performance while still allowing each instrument to shine. 'It Beckons Us All' is a powerful addition to Darkthrone's discography, solidifying their place as one of the most influential bands in the heavy metal scene.
