About the Band
Alcatrazz is an American rock band formed in 1983 by Graham Bonnet, Jimmy Waldo, and Gary Shea. They are best known for their songs "Island in the Sun", "Hiroshima Mon Amour", and "God Blessed Video". They are also notable for featuring a previously unknown Yngwie Malmsteen as their lead guitarist for a year, who was then replaced by Steve Vai, with whom they recorded one album. Following an internal disagreement and split in 2020, there are currently two separate and distinct Alcatrazz lineups, one featuring Bonnet, and another featuring Waldo and Shea. The band went through a number of lineup changes, with Bonnet being the only member to be in every incarnation of Alcatrazz.

Album Review
Alcatrazz's 'Rock Justice - Complete Recordings 1983-1986' is a powerhouse collection that showcases the band's raw energy and technical prowess. From the soaring vocals of tracks like 'Island in the Sun' and 'God Blessed Video' to the blistering guitar solos in 'Too Young to Die, Too Drunk to Live' and 'Desert Diamond', this album is a masterclass in classic heavy metal. The production quality is top-notch, allowing each instrument to shine while still maintaining that gritty edge that defines the genre. Standout tracks like 'Hiroshima Mon Amour' and 'Painted Lover' exemplify the band's ability to blend melodic hooks with aggressive riffs, creating a dynamic and engaging listening experience. 'Rock Justice' perfectly encapsulates Alcatrazz's early career, serving as a testament to their influence on the metal scene of the 80s.
