A History of Turisas

Formation and Early Years (1997–2004)

In 1997, Turisas emerged from the cold lands of Finland, founded by Mathias Nygård and Jussi Wickström. Drawing inspiration from the ancient Finnish god of war, the band set out to create a unique blend of folk, power, and symphonic metal.
