Comprised of seven talented members, including John Osebold, John Ackermann, Kirk Anderson, Basil Harris, Evan Mosher, David Nixon, and Rob Witmer, this band was more than just a musical group - they were a captivating art collective.

Initially coming together as a cabaret act by a group of seasoned fringe theater actors, 'Awesome' quickly transitioned into a full-fledged band with a distinct identity. Their first official performance under the name 'Awesome' took place in 2004 at Annex Theater's monthly cabaret 'Spin the Bottle', setting the stage for a series of groundbreaking shows that would solidify their place in the music scene.

Major Productions and Recognition (2007–2011)

As 'Awesome' continued to evolve, they delved into major productions such as 'Delaware', which started as a multimedia stage performance before being transformed into an album. Their eclectic sound and captivating performances led them to share the stage with renowned acts like Harvey Danger, The Presidents of the United States of America, and The Long Winters.

One of the band's members, John Osebold, stood out as the primary songwriter and was rightfully recognized with a 2011 Stranger Genius Award. Their theatrical pieces, often non-narrative or with minimal linear narratives, captivated audiences with their thought-provoking themes and innovative approach to performance art.

Continued Success and Artistic Exploration (2012–Present)

Despite their unconventional approach to music, 'Awesome' continued to push boundaries and explore new artistic horizons. Their large-scale production 'West' in 2010 at On the Boards showcased their ability to captivate audiences with a unique blend of music and theater.

Band member David Nixon's role as a philosophy professor and Rob Witmer's work as a composer and sound designer added depth to the band's creative endeavors. With their intricate compositions and thought-provoking performances, 'Awesome' solidified their reputation as a groundbreaking force in the music industry.
