A History of Spiral Shades

Formation and Early Years (2012–2013)

In the dark depths of 2012, a serendipitous meeting of minds occurred between songwriter Khushal Bhadra from India and guitarist Filip Petersen from Norway. Bonding over their shared love for the heavy, groovy sounds of the 1970s, the duo came together virtually to birth the beast known as Spiral Shades.

Their debut demo, 'Hypnosis Sessions', released on August 15, 2013, was a testament to their musical prowess. Despite facing challenges due to their geographical separation, the duo's dedication and passion shone through in their music, garnering critical acclaim within the underground doom metal community.

Label Signing and Recognition (2014–2015)

After the success of 'Hypnosis Sessions', Spiral Shades caught the attention of indie record label RidingEasy Records, who re-released the demo in April 2014. This partnership catapulted the band into the spotlight, allowing their hypnotic tunes to reach a wider audience.

In October 2015, Spiral Shades continued their musical journey with the release of the EP 'Children of Doom'. Paying homage to their influences such as Bobby Liebling and Scott Weinrich, the band showcased their versatility and deep-rooted connection to the genre.

Revival and Continued Success (2023–present)

As the years rolled on, Spiral Shades maintained their unwavering dedication to their craft. In September 2023, they unleashed their second album, 'Revival', a testament to their evolution and growth as musicians. With Khushal on vocals and Filip handling all instruments, the band delved deeper into the realms of doom and stoner rock, creating a sonic landscape that captivated listeners.

With their lineup unchanged and their sound refined, Spiral Shades continued to push the boundaries of their genre. Mixing the old-school vibes of the 70s with a modern twist, the band solidified their place in the annals of heavy metal history.
