A History of Skyharbor

Formation and Early Years (2010–2013)

Skyharbor emerged onto the progressive metal scene in 2010 as a brainchild of guitarist Keshav Dhar, initially serving as a studio project. However, fate had other plans as TesseracT vocalist Daniel Tompkins reached out to collaborate with Dhar in October 2010. The band's live potential was realized when drummer Anup Sastry and bassist Nikhil Rufus Raj joined, culminating in their debut performance at the 2011 Bacardi NH7 Weekender festival.

Their debut album, 'Blinding White Noise: Illusion and Chaos', dropped in 2012 under Basick Records, showcasing refined versions of Dhar's early demos. The addition of Tompkins as the official lead singer set the stage for their explosive rise, highlighted by a supporting slot for Lamb of God in India and a European debut at Euroblast Festival.

Guiding Lights and Continued Success (2013–2015)

With the release of their sophomore album 'Guiding Lights' in 2014, Skyharbor delved deeper into progressive arrangements and ambient soundscapes, steering away from their riff-driven roots. The collaborative writing process and the addition of bassist Krishna Jhaveri marked a new chapter for the band, as they embarked on a successful crowd-funding campaign and a launch tour in India.

The band's evolution continued with an extensive European and UK tour alongside sleepmakeswaves and Tides From Nebula, solidifying their position as pioneers of the progressive metal genre.

Sunshine Dust and Beyond (2015–2020)

Following the departure of drummer Anup Sastry in 2015, Skyharbor persevered and continued to push boundaries with their third album 'Sunshine Dust'. The band's sonic exploration and unwavering dedication to their craft garnered them a loyal fanbase and critical acclaim, solidifying their legacy in the metal scene.

As the band's journey came to an end in 2020, their impact on the progressive metal landscape remains undeniable, with their innovative approach and genre-defying sound inspiring a new generation of musicians.
