A History of Skiltron

Formation and Early Years (2004–2006)

Skiltron emerged from the fiery depths of Buenos Aires in 2004, birthed by the visionary Emilio Souto. With a three-song demo titled Gathering the Clans, the band quickly made their mark on the Celtic/folk metal scene. Their debut album, The Clans Have United, released in 2006 through Underground Symphony, solidified their unique sound and style.

Led by Souto's masterful guitar work and incorporating elements of Celtic music, Skiltron's early years showcased their passion for blending heavy metal with traditional folk influences. The band's name, derived from the Scottish schiltron formation, served as a testament to their dedication to their roots.

Rise to European Prominence (2012–2016)

In 2012, Skiltron ventured across the Atlantic to the UK, where they joined forces with legends like Sabbat and Skyclad singer Martin Walkyier. The release of their fourth album, Into the Battleground, in 2013 marked a turning point as the band began touring Europe extensively. Their presence at renowned festivals like Wacken and Bloodstock solidified their reputation as a force to be reckoned with.

With bagpipes weaving through their powerful melodies and lyrics sung in English, Skiltron captivated audiences with their unique blend of Celtic metal. The release of Legacy of Blood in 2016 under Trollzorn Records further cemented their place in the annals of metal history.

Lineup Changes and Continued Success (2018–Present)

As Skiltron made the move to Europe in 2018, new members like Joona Nislin on drums and Martin McManus on vocals joined the ranks. The band's relentless touring schedule took them across twenty countries, sharing stages with metal titans like Judas Priest and Slayer. Their European tour in support of Legacy of Blood showcased their unwavering dedication to their craft.

Despite lineup changes over the years, Skiltron's commitment to their Celtic-infused metal remained unwavering. With a strong presence in the European metal scene and a loyal fan base, the band continues to push boundaries and inspire fans around the globe.
