A History of Six Magics

Formation and Early Years (1996–1998)

Six Magics, a Chilean metal group, was formed in 1996 by Pablo Stagnaro, Erick Ávila, Nicolás Espinoza, Juan Pablo Pizarro, and Sergio Villarroel. Initially, Erick Ávila composed the music while Juan Pablo Pizarro and Sergio Villarroel wrote the lyrics. Their early songs were in Spanish, and in 1996, they recorded four tracks for the EP Trilogía de un guerrero.

However, in 1998, Juan Pablo Pizarro left the band to move to France, leading to the addition of new bassist Rodolfo Sánchez. This lineup change marked a shift towards composing lyrics in English and working towards creating a professional album.

Rise to Prominence and Musical Evolution (2000–2005)

In 2000, Six Magics had the opportunity to open for bands like Nightwish and Rhapsody, showcasing their unique blend of heavy metal with symphonic and folk influences. The band's debut album, 'Dead Kings of the Unholy Valley', was released in July 2002, followed by their conceptual work 'The Secrets Of An Island' in 2003, which explored the mythological history of Chiloé Island.

As Six Magics continued to mix hard rock with Latin American traditional beats, their concerts became more elaborate, attracting larger audiences. Despite lineup changes and challenges, the band's dedication to crafting epic narratives and incorporating diverse musical elements set them apart in the metal scene.

New Directions and Lineup Changes (2007–2010)

In 2007, Six Magics embarked on the production of their third album with renowned producer David Prater. The departure of vocalist Sergio Domínguez in May 2007 led to the introduction of Elizabeth Vásquez as the band's new lead vocalist, bringing a fresh dynamic to their sound.

The release of the album 'Behind the Sorrow' in 2008 marked a significant creative growth for Six Magics, as they ventured into new musical territories under Prater's guidance. A European tour in 2010 further solidified the band's presence in the metal scene, showcasing their evolving sound and captivating live performances.
