A History of Silver Mountain

Formation and Early Years (1981–1986)

In the early 1980s, a group of talented musicians from Sweden came together to form what would become the legendary heavy metal band Silver Mountain. Drawing inspiration from the iconic song 'Man on the Silver Mountain' by Rainbow, they embarked on a musical journey that would leave a lasting mark on the metal scene.

Led by vocalist-guitarist Jonas Hansson, the original lineup also included guitarist Morgan Alm, bassist Ingemar Stenquist, and drummer Marten Hedener. With their unique blend of power metal and neoclassical influences, Silver Mountain quickly gained recognition as one of the great Scandinavian cult bands of the era.

Rise to Fame with 'Shakin' Brains' (1984)

In 1984, Silver Mountain unleashed their debut album 'Shakin' Brains' upon the world. Featuring the exceptional drumming of Anders Johansson, who would later go on to play with HammerFall and Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force, the album was hailed as a hidden gem of the '80s metal scene.

Despite being considered one of the most underrated albums of the decade, 'Shakin' Brains' showcased the band's undeniable talent and set the stage for their future success in the world of heavy metal.
