A History of Siksakubur

Formation and Early Years (1996–1998)

Siksakubur rose from the depths of Jakarta's underground metal scene in July 1996, founded by Andyan Gorust and Ade Godel. Drawing inspiration from Brazilian metal legends Sepultura, the band's name translates to 'Torture at the Grave.' The early lineup consisted of Gorust on drums, Godel on vocals/guitar, Has on bass, Bembenx on guitar, and Rosadist on guitar. However, lineup changes plagued the band in the late 90s, leading to a period of hiatus and uncertainty.

The Carnage and Lineup Changes (1999–2001)

Despite facing challenges, Siksakubur persevered and in 1999, released their debut album 'The Carnage.' With Godel taking over guitar duties and Prahari 'Japs' Mahardika on vocals, the band solidified its sound. The album received praise from the underground community and marked the beginning of Siksakubur's journey in the Indonesian metal scene.

However, lineup instability continued as Godel departed in 2002, leaving a void in the band. Andre 'Bacot' Tiranda stepped in as guitarist, but further changes followed with Bimorbid joining briefly before departing. Despite these challenges, Siksakubur continued to evolve and push boundaries.

Back to Vengeance and Growth (2002–present)

In 2002, Siksakubur released their second album 'Back to Vengeance' under Rottrevore Records. This marked a period of expansion for the band, as they began performing at major events across Indonesia, even breaking boundaries by playing at school art performances. The album showcased their relentless energy and commitment to the metal genre.

With a growing fanbase and a reputation for intense live performances, Siksakubur solidified their position as one of the top death metal bands in Indonesia. Their dedication to their craft and willingness to push boundaries has earned them recognition and respect within the global metal community.
