Formation and Early Years (1970–1975)

In the early 1970s, Queen emerged from the vibrant music scene in London, founded by Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon. Influenced by progressive rock and heavy metal, their self-titled debut album in 1973 marked the beginning of their journey towards international success.

With the release of Queen II in 1974 and Sheer Heart Attack later that year, the band started to make waves in the UK music scene. A Night at the Opera in 1975 solidified their place in the music world, featuring the iconic 'Bohemian Rhapsody' which became a chart-topping hit.

Peak Years and Stadium Rock Dominance (1977–1985)

By the late 1970s, Queen had become one of the biggest stadium rock bands globally. The release of News of the World in 1977 further propelled their fame with anthems like 'We Will Rock You' and 'We Are the Champions'. Their performance at Live Aid in 1985 solidified their legendary status in rock history.

Hits like 'Another One Bites the Dust' from The Game in 1980 showcased the band's versatility, while the compilation album Greatest Hits in 1981 became a massive success, solidifying their place in music history.

Challenges and Loss (1986–1995)

Tragedy struck in 1986 when Freddie Mercury gave his final performance with Queen before his AIDS diagnosis. Despite the challenges, the band released The Miracle in 1989 and Innuendo in 1991, showcasing their resilience and musical prowess.

Mercury's passing in 1991 marked a somber moment in music history, but Queen continued to honor his legacy with the release of Made in Heaven in 1995, featuring his vocals. John Deacon's retirement in 1997 marked the end of an era for the band.
