A History of Ryujin

Formation and Early Years (2009–2018)

Ryujin, originally known as GYZE, emerged from the icy depths of Hokkaido, Japan in 2009. The trio, comprised of Ryoji Shinomoto on guitar and vocals, Shuji Shinomoto on drums, and Aruta Watanabe on bass and vocals, quickly made a name for themselves in the metal scene. With their unique blend of melodic and aggressive sounds, they dubbed themselves as the 'Northern Nostalgic Metal band.'

Throughout their early years as GYZE, the band released four full-length albums and three limited edition EPs, showcasing their musical prowess and captivating audiences with their intense live performances. The Shinomoto brothers' intricate guitar work combined with Watanabe's thunderous bass lines created a sonic landscape that resonated with metal fans worldwide.

Lineup Changes and Evolution (2019–2022)

In early 2019, Ryujin announced a significant lineup change with the addition of a new guitarist, SHINKAI, to the band. Meanwhile, drummer Shuji temporarily stepped back from his role, with session drummer Han-nya filling in to keep the band's momentum going.

On 13th September 2023, Ryujin made a monumental announcement, revealing plans for their fifth studio album under their new name. This exciting development hinted at a new era for the band, promising fresh material that would further showcase their growth and creativity. With their sights set on new horizons, Ryujin continues to push the boundaries of metal music and inspire fans around the globe.
