Formation and Early Years (1975–1987)

Riot V, originally known simply as Riot, burst onto the heavy metal scene in 1975 in the heart of New York City. Founded by the talented guitarist Mark Reale, the band quickly gained a following with their straightforward heavy metal sound. Throughout the early 1980s, Riot solidified their place in the metal world, releasing iconic albums like Fire Down Under in 1981 and Born in America in 1983.

Shift to Power Metal (1988–2012)

In 1988, Riot took a bold step forward with the release of Thundersteel, a game-changing album that marked a shift in their style towards power metal. This new direction brought the band even more success and recognition within the metal community. Over the next few decades, Riot continued to evolve their sound, releasing albums like The Privilege of Power in 1990 and Nightbreaker in 1993.

Reformation as Riot V (2013–Present)

Tragedy struck the band in 2012 with the passing of founder Mark Reale. However, in 2013, the surviving members reunited and rebranded themselves as Riot V in honor of their fallen comrade. The band's dedication to their legacy and music lives on, with Riot V continuing to rock stages and release new material. Their iconic baby seal face logo adorns their album covers, a symbol of their resilience and strength.
