Formation and Early Years (1996–2000)

Psilocybe Larvae emerged from the depths of Vyborg, Russia in 1996, driven by a collective passion for melodic and haunting death/dark metal. Led by Vitaly Belobritsky, the band quickly made their mark with their first demo 'Liar' and a track on the 'Russian Alternative Extreme Music' sampler in 1998. Despite lineup changes, including a shift in drummers, Psilocybe Larvae's sound continued to evolve, culminating in their debut album 'Stigmata' in 2000.

Agony and Lineup Turmoil (2001–2005)

As Psilocybe Larvae ventured into the early 2000s, they faced further lineup changes and challenges. Despite releasing their second album 'Agony' in 2003, the departure of bassist Oleg in 2004 left the band in a state of uncertainty. With the re-release of their albums by CD-Maximum in 2005, Psilocybe Larvae found new members, only to face more lineup instability.

Non-existence and International Recognition (2006–2009)

Psilocybe Larvae's relocation to St. Petersburg in 2005 marked a new chapter for the band. With the release of 'Non-existence' in 2008, the band solidified their place in the melodic death metal scene. Signing to Dark Harvest Records in 2009, Psilocybe Larvae began to gain international recognition and embarked on tours to support their music.

The Labyrinth Of Penumbra and Continued Success (2010–2013)

After intense work, Psilocybe Larvae returned with 'The Labyrinth Of Penumbra' in 2012, showcasing a blend of melodic death metal prowess. The album's release by Buil2Kill Records/Nadir Music brought the band to new heights, with successful gigs in Russia, the Baltic States, and Finland. The following year saw the band expanding their reach, signing with Albagi Music Promotion and embarking on tours to further promote their music.
