Formation and Early Years (1992–1997)

Obtest emerged from the depths of Vilnius, Lithuania in 1992, initially delving into the realms of death metal. However, it wasn't long before the band underwent a transformation, embracing the pagan metal and black metal genres. With their lyrics steeped in Lithuanian mythology and sung in their native tongue, Obtest quickly carved out a unique niche for themselves.

By 1995, Obtest had already released their demo 'Oldness Coming,' showcasing their evolving sound and thematic content. This was followed by the full-length album 'Tūkstantmetis' in 1997, solidifying their position within the extreme metal scene.

Rise to Prominence (1998–2006)

Throughout the late '90s and early 2000s, Obtest continued to captivate audiences with releases like the EP '9 9 7' in 1998 and 'Auka Seniems Dievams' in 2001. These offerings showcased the band's growth and maturation, cementing their status as a force to be reckoned with in the heathen war metal realm.

The mini LP 'Prieš Audrą' in 2006 further solidified Obtest's musical prowess, drawing in listeners with its powerful compositions and evocative storytelling.

Growth and Evolution (2007–2015)

In 2008, Obtest unleashed 'Gyvybės medis,' a full-length album that showcased the band's evolution and growth over the years. With a sound that resonated with fans of pagan metal and black metal alike, Obtest continued to push boundaries and explore new musical territories.
