A History of Memoriam

Formation and Early Years (2016–2019)

Memoriam rose from the ashes of legendary bands, with former Bolt Thrower vocalist Karl Willetts leading the charge. Alongside Scott Fairfax on guitar, Frank Healy on bass, and Andy Whale on drums, the band was born in Birmingham, England in 2016. Their mission? To pay tribute to the late Bolt Thrower drummer Martin Kearns.

The band wasted no time in making their mark, releasing their debut album 'For the Fallen' in 2017. The record stormed the German charts, landing at number 16 and solidifying Memoriam's place in the death metal scene. With a sound that honored their roots while forging a new path, the band's future was as promising as their brutal riffs.

Lineup Changes and Continued Success (2020–2022)

In 2020, Memoriam faced a lineup change as Andy Whale left the band, making way for Spike T. Smith to take over the drums. Despite this shift, the band pressed on, unleashing their third album 'The Silent Vigil' in 2018. Once again, the record found its way onto the German charts, this time reaching number 32 and proving that Memoriam was a force to be reckoned with.

As the years passed, Memoriam continued to evolve and grow. Their sound remained as fierce as ever, with each album showcasing the band's dedication to their craft. With a new label, Reaper Entertainment, backing them, Memoriam was poised to rise even higher in the metal world.

Rise to Power and Future Endeavors (2023–Present)

In 2023, Memoriam unleashed their latest offering, 'Rise to Power', further solidifying their place in the death metal pantheon. With a fully narrative music video for 'All is Lost' captivating fans, the band's creative vision was on full display. Karl Willetts spoke of the band's relentless drive, fueled by Scott Fairfax's songwriting prowess and a wealth of material waiting to be unleashed.

As Memoriam looked towards the future, one thing was clear: this was a band with no intention of slowing down. With their roots firmly planted in the metal scene and their eyes set on new horizons, Memoriam's journey was far from over.
