Formation and Early Years (2005–2010)

In the scorching deserts of Mashhad, Iran, a group of fearless musicians came together in 2005 to form Master of Persia, a band unlike any other in the region. Led by Meraj Ansari, they set out to blend the powerful sounds of heavy metal with the rich traditions of Persian music, incorporating instruments like the setar into their compositions.

After three years of honing their craft, Master of Persia welcomed lead vocalist Anahid to their ranks in 2008. Together, they unleashed their first single, 'Prince of Persia', upon the world in 2010. The track quickly caught the attention of metalheads worldwide, earning the band international radio airplay and setting the stage for their debut album.

Exile and International Recognition (2011–2015)

Despite their rising success, Master of Persia faced harsh backlash in their hometown of Mashhad. Accusations of Satanism and defiance of local authorities led to vocalist Meraj being flogged and imprisoned, while Anahid was threatened and ostracized from her own family. Forced into exile, the band found refuge in Yerevan, Armenia.

Undeterred by the challenges they faced, Master of Persia continued to push boundaries and showcase their unique blend of metal and Persian influences. They organized the Persian Rock & Metal Festival, uniting bands from across the Middle East and spreading their message of unity through music. Their performance at the 'Peace, Love & Rock in the Middle East' festival in 2015 further solidified their place in the global metal scene.

Recent Years and Collaborations (2015–present)

In 2015, Master of Persia unleashed the anthemic single 'Get Up And Fight', followed by the hard-hitting track 'Acid Attack' in 2016, featuring a collaboration with American band GATH. These releases showcased the band's evolution and their willingness to experiment with new sounds and styles, all while staying true to their roots.

With a discography that includes their debut album 'Older Than History' and a string of powerful singles, Master of Persia continues to captivate audiences with their unique blend of progressive, death, and Middle Eastern folk metal. Their dedication to their craft and unwavering passion for their cultural heritage have solidified their status as pioneers in the metal world.

Master of Persia's legacy is one of resilience, creativity, and a fierce dedication to their roots. Through their music, they have not only challenged stereotypes and pushed boundaries but also brought the rich history and culture of Iran to the forefront of the metal scene.
