A History of Kraptor

Formation and Early Years (2007–2010)

Kraptor emerged from the depths of San Cristóbal, Venezuela in 2007, founded by Felipe "Phill" Alvarez and Jessy Jaimes. With a burning passion for thrash metal, they were soon joined by Angel Moreno and Edward Cañizares, solidifying the original lineup. The band honed their skills in the underground scene, earning their stripes through relentless live performances.

In 2010, Kraptor's raw energy caught the attention of metal enthusiasts when they opened the prestigious Monsters of Rock festival in Maracay, Venezuela alongside German thrash legends Tankard. This marked the beginning of their ascent into the realms of thrash metal glory.

Rising Through the Ranks (2011–2013)

Kraptor's relentless dedication to their craft paid off when they signed with Mexican label Cadaver Productions in 2011, unleashing their debut EP 'Fucking Liar' upon the world. The band's ferocious live performances and unapologetically old-school thrash sound garnered them opportunities to share stages with iconic bands like Tankard, Violator, and Inquisidor.

The year 2012 saw the release of their debut studio album 'Night of the Living Dead,' showcasing guest vocals from Pedro Poney of Violator and Rick Rangel of Fueled by Fire. Kraptor embarked on a triumphant tour of Mexico, solidifying their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the global thrash metal scene.

International Recognition and Awards (2013–2015)

In a testament to their growing influence, Kraptor was awarded the title of 'Best Revelation Band' at the Melomaniac Metalmedia Records ceremony in Caracas, Venezuela in 2012. The band expanded their reach by signing with European label Chainsaw Distro in 2013, re-releasing 'Night of the Living Dead' for their European fanbase.

Kraptor continued to push boundaries with their music, collaborating with Brazilian thrash metal band Angry on the split album 'N.F.T.F.T. (New Forces Together for Thrash)' in 2013. Their electrifying performances at festivals like Bogothrash Festival Open Air in Bogotá, Colombia solidified their status as a powerhouse of the thrash metal scene.

Legacy and Disbandment (2015–2021)

As the years passed, Kraptor's legacy continued to resonate with fans of pure, unadulterated thrash metal. Their music, characterized by fast riffs, pounding beats, and sneering vocals, drew comparisons to thrash titans like Sodom. Despite their untimely disbandment in 2021, Kraptor's impact on the metal world remains indelible, a testament to the enduring spirit of thrash metal.
