A History of Kekal

Formation and Early Years (1995–2002)

Kekal emerged from the depths of Jakarta, Indonesia in 1995, founded by the mysterious figures known only as Yeris and Newbabe. With a sound that blended elements of black metal, progressive metal, and electronic music, the band quickly caught the attention of the global metal scene. The early years saw lineup shifts, but the core trio of guitarist/vocalist Jeff Arwadi, bassist Azhar Levi Sianturi, and guitarist Leo Setiawan solidified the band's identity.

Debuting with their first studio album, 'Beyond the Glimpse of Dreams,' in 1998, Kekal showcased their musical prowess and willingness to experiment with different genres. Over the next few years, the band continued to push boundaries with albums like 'Acidity' (2005), 'The Habit of Fire' (2007), and 'Audible Minority' (2008). However, in August 2009, all original members officially departed, leaving the band's future uncertain.

Despite the lineup changes, Kekal persevered as a musical entity, with former members contributing to new albums released post-2009. The band's willingness to innovate and explore new sonic territories continued to captivate audiences, cementing their legacy as genre-defying trailblazers.

Anonymous Contributions and Continued Resilience (2015–present)

In a bold move, Kekal decided to keep all musical contributions to new recordings anonymous starting in 2015.
