A History of Kamelot

Formation and Early Years (1987–1997)

Kamelot, hailing from the metal hotbed of Tampa, Florida, was founded in 1987 by guitarist Thomas Youngblood. The band's early years saw them honing their sound, blending elements of power metal with symphonic influences to create a unique sonic identity.

It wasn't until the album Siége Perilous in 1998 that Kamelot truly found their voice, with the addition of Norwegian vocalist Roy Khan. Khan's powerful vocals and songwriting prowess elevated the band to new heights, setting the stage for their future success.

The Roy Khan Era (1998–2011)

With Roy Khan now at the helm, Kamelot embarked on a journey that would solidify their place in the power metal pantheon. Albums like The Fourth Legacy, Karma, and Epica showcased the band's knack for crafting epic, melodic compositions that resonated with fans worldwide.

However, in April 2011, the metal world was shocked by Khan's departure from the band. Despite this setback, Kamelot pressed on, determined to continue their musical legacy.

The Tommy Karevik Era (2012–present)

In June 2012, Kamelot welcomed Swedish singer Tommy Karevik as their new vocalist. Karevik's debut on the album Silverthorn marked a new chapter for the band, with his dynamic vocals and songwriting skills seamlessly fitting into the Kamelot sound.

Since then, Kamelot has released a string of successful albums, including Haven and The Shadow Theory, solidifying Karevik's place as the band's frontman and carrying on the legacy of Kamelot.

Kamelot's enduring legacy in the realm of power metal is a testament to their ability to evolve and adapt, all while staying true to their melodic roots. With a discography spanning over three decades and a dedicated fanbase, Kamelot continues to inspire and captivate metal fans around the globe.
