In 1996, the French heavy metal band Gojira was born under the name Godzilla in Ondres. Founded by brothers Joe and Mario Duplantier, along with Christian Andreu and Jean-Michel Labadie, the band quickly made a name for themselves with their progressive and technical death metal sound.

Following the success of From Mars to Sirius, Gojira continued to impress with their next album, The Way of All Flesh, in 2008. Mainstream Success and Evolution (2012–2016)

By 2012, Gojira had signed with Roadrunner Records and released L'Enfant Sauvage, further solidifying their place in the metal scene. The band's evolution was evident in their 2016 album Magma, which showcased a more straightforward style and marked a breakthrough for the band, reaching gold status in France.

Shelving their death metal roots in favor of a new sound, Gojira's Magma album brought them mainstream success and critical acclaim. The band's dedication to their craft and willingness to evolve set them apart as true metal innovators.

Chart-Topping Success and Global Headliners (2020–2022)

In 2020, Gojira achieved their first Billboard-charting single with 'Another World', paving the way for their chart-topping album Fortitude in 2021. This album became the best-selling in the US during its first week, propelling Gojira to arena headliner status in Europe, the UK, and South America by 2022.

With a DIY approach to their music production, Gojira continues to push boundaries and break new ground in the metal world. Their legacy as environmental and human rights activists, along with their musical prowess, cements their status as one of the most influential metal bands of their time.
