Formation and Early Years (1981–1986)

Dark Angel burst onto the thrash metal scene in 1981, hailing from Downey, California with a raw and aggressive sound that set them apart from their peers. Led by guitarist Eric Meyer, the band quickly gained a reputation for their intense live performances and lightning-fast riffs.

With the release of their debut album 'We Have Arrived' in 1985, Dark Angel solidified their place in the thrash metal pantheon. Rise to Prominence and Lineup Changes (1987–1992)

The year 1986 saw Dark Angel unleash their seminal album 'Darkness Descends', a brutal and uncompromising display of thrash metal prowess that cemented their status as one of the genre's elite bands. However, internal tensions and lineup changes plagued the group, leading to their initial breakup in 1992.

Despite the setbacks, Dark Angel left an indelible mark on the metal landscape with albums like 'Leave Scars' (1989) and 'Time Does Not Heal' (1991), pushing the boundaries of thrash metal with their technical prowess and unrelenting aggression.

Reunion and Extinction Level Event (2002–2025)

After a brief reunion from 2002 to 2005, Dark Angel reemerged in 2013 with a renewed sense of purpose. With a lineup featuring guitarists Eric Meyer and Laura Christine, drummer Gene Hoglan, lead vocalist Ron Rinehart, and bassist Mike Gonzalez, the band set their sights on new horizons.

In 2025, Dark Angel unleashed their long-awaited fifth studio album 'Extinction Level Event', a thunderous declaration of their enduring relevance in the metal world. With their over-the-top style and uncompromising vision, Dark Angel continues to inspire a new generation of metalheads.
