A History of Dukatalon

Formation and Early Years (2007–2008)

In the dark and gritty streets of Tel Aviv, Israel, a sludge metal trio known as Dukatalon emerged in 2007. Comprised of vocalist and guitarist Zafrir Tzori, drummer Yariv Shilo, and bassist Cavan, these musicians brought together their diverse musical backgrounds to create a sound that was both haunting and powerful.

Quickly gaining traction in the local hardcore punk and grindcore scene, Dukatalon released a self-titled demo EP in 2007 and caught the attention of many with their raw and intense live performances. The band's journey took a significant turn when they performed alongside UK mathcore/grindcore band Trencher at the Maximum Pain Festival in 2008, setting the stage for their debut album.

Saved By Fear Era (2008–2011)

Following their impactful performance at the Maximum Pain Festival, Dukatalon flew to the US to record their debut album, 'Saved By Fear,' at Roco Studios in Indianapolis, Indiana. Released in 2009 and re-released in 2010 after signing with Relapse Records, the album showcased the band's signature blend of doom and sludge metal.

Throughout 2011, Dukatalon toured extensively in Israel, sharing the stage with bands like Prey for Nothing and Chains of Past Decisions. Their dedication to their craft was evident as they opened for stoner rock trio Karma to Burn and continued to push boundaries with their music, including a cover of Buzzov*en's 'Mainline.'

Lineup Changes and New Horizons (2012–2016)

In 2012, Dukatalon faced a lineup change as bassist Lior Mayer departed, making way for Roy Ben Samuel to join the band. With this new lineup, the band continued to captivate audiences with their intense live performances and began working on a highly anticipated new album.

The years that followed saw Dukatalon meticulously crafting their new material, balancing studio time between different locations to achieve a sound that pushed the boundaries of doom and sludge metal. As they toured Europe and performed in various cities, the band's dedication to their craft remained unwavering.
