Early Days: Brawl and the Arrival of David Draiman (1994-1999)
The band’s story starts in 1994 under the moniker “Brawl.” The founding members, guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren, and bassist Steve “Fuzz” Kmak, honed their sound in the Chicago metal scene. However, after extensive touring in support of “Asylum,” the band announced a hiatus in 2011. The members pursued side projects, with Draiman forming Device and Donegan joining Fight.
Return and Continued Success (2011-Present)
The hiatus proved to be temporary. In 2011, Disturbed released “The Lost Children,” a compilation album featuring previously unreleased material. The positive fan response fueled rumors of a reunion, which came to fruition in 2015.
Their return was triumphant. The band embarked on a sold-out world tour and released critically acclaimed albums like “Immortalized” (2015) and “Evolution” (2018). Their latest album, “Divisive” (2022), featured the Grammy-nominated single “Bad Man” and the mainstream rock hit “Hey You,” proving their ability to stay relevant and connect with new audiences.
