A History of Ascending King

Formation and Early Years (2015–2016)

Ascending King emerged from the depths of Midlothian, Texas in 2015, when Aaron Kirby, formerly of metalcore band Dryline, decided to embark on a new musical journey. Embracing his Christian faith, Kirby took on the moniker Ruah and formed the project Ascending King.

In 2016, Ascending King signed with SkyBurnsBlack Records and unleashed their debut single, 'Genesis of Desolation'. This marked the beginning of a dark and atmospheric sound that would come to define the band's unique blend of black, unblack, and doom metal.

Rise to Prominence (2017)

The year 2017 saw Ascending King making significant strides in the metal scene. The band signed with Nosral Recordings, a subsidiary of Rottweiler Records, and released their debut EP, 'Funeral of a Species', on August 22. This haunting masterpiece garnered praise for its raw intensity and spiritual depth.

Following the EP's release, Ascending King dropped a lyric video for the track 'Moon for the Dead' on September 22, further solidifying their place as a force to be reckoned with in the extreme metal realm.

Continued Evolution (2019–2020)

In 2019, Ascending King returned with a new single titled “Lignum Vitae”, featuring Sebat of Frost Like Ashes. This release showcased the band's growth and willingness to push boundaries within the genre, drawing listeners deeper into their sonic abyss.

By January 2020, Ascending King had signed with Christian Metal Underground Records, expanding their reach and cementing their status as a rising star in the world of Christian metal.

Ascending King's journey from a solo project to a respected force in extreme metal is a testament to their unwavering dedication to crafting dark, atmospheric music infused with spiritual themes.
