A History of Abysmal Oceans

In 2023, Abysmal Oceans emerged from the depths of the Maldives, founded by Occultus Monolith and Unholy One, later joined by Usham Demoriel. Drawing inspiration from Maldivian folklore and the enigmatic mysteries of the ocean, the band began crafting their unique brand of black metal.

Their debut EP, 'Ravenous Abyss', released on June 8, 2024, unleashed a sonic onslaught of four tracks: Dominion, Ascension, War March, and Nightmares. Produced by Usham Demoriel and mixed by George Nerantzis, the EP delves into the narrative of Abysma, a powerful oceanic entity, marking the band's first step into the dark waters of the metal scene.

Invoking the Flesh and Blood (2024)

In the same year, Abysmal Oceans unveiled 'Invoking the Flesh & Blood', a single serving as a prequel to the EP's storyline. This track explores the origins of Abysma, referencing the ancient entity Baravel that once ravaged the Maldivian shores. With the inclusion of the traditional Maldivian percussion instrument Boduberu, the band further solidified their connection to their cultural roots.

Through their music, Abysmal Oceans painted a vivid picture of a mythical world where the oceanic force of Abysma reigns supreme, leaving a trail of destruction and conquest in her wake.
