Legendary punk band, Sex Pistols, has recently announced their upcoming North American tour, marking their return to the continent after a hiatus of 22 years. Following their successful U.K. and European tour, the band, now without singer Johnny Rotten, is set to perform across North America, starting in mid-September and spanning a four-week period.
The tour will feature original members Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock, accompanied by singer Frank Carter, known for his role in Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes. This reunion comes after Rotten, also known as John Lydon, opted out of joining his former bandmates in recent Sex Pistols projects, citing creative differences.
Their current tour, which includes the performance of their iconic 1977 album “Never Mind the Bollocks,” has been received with mixed reactions from fans and critics alike. Lydon expressed his discontent with the tour, labeling it as “karaoke” and expressing concerns that the essence of Sex Pistols’ music might be diluted without his involvement.
The North American leg of the tour is scheduled to kick off on September 16 at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas, a symbolic venue that hosted a memorable Sex Pistols show in 1978. The tour will then visit major cities such as Philadelphia, Toronto, Cleveland, and San Francisco before concluding with a performance at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on October 16. Additional dates are expected to be added to the itinerary in the near future.
Fans eager to secure their tickets can take advantage of artist and presale options available from April 1 to 3. Detailed information regarding ticket sales and tour updates can be found on the band’s official website.
The return of Sex Pistols to the North American stage after more than two decades is a significant event in the realm of punk rock music. The band’s enduring influence and rebellious spirit continue to resonate with audiences worldwide, making this tour a highly anticipated and historic moment for fans of the genre.
