Legendary rocker Alice Cooper capped off his Australian tour with a surprise performance at a Brisbane bar, thrilling lucky fans with an intimate late-night set.
Cooper, who headlined the Pandemonium Rocks festival alongside Blondie, snuck in an extra show for Aussie fans at the aptly named Alice Bar on Sunday night. Performing with his band under the moniker “Goon Squad,” Cooper treated the crowd to a selection of his hits, including a rip-roaring rendition of “Lost In America.”
This surprise gig wasn’t just for Cooper’s dedicated fans. Several other musicians from the Pandemonium festival lineup joined him onstage for an impromptu jam session. Drummers Glen Sobel (Cooper’s band) and Zac Alford (Psychedelic Furs) laid down the beat, while guitarists Richard Fortus (Psychedelic Furs), Andrew Stockdale (Wolfmother), and Ryan Roxie (Cooper’s band) provided the riffs. Vocalists Britt Lightning (presumably a touring artist) and Brendon Urie (lead singer of Weezer) added their voices to the mix, creating a truly unique and unforgettable experience for those lucky enough to be there.
Social media has been buzzing with excitement since Cooper himself posted a video of the performance on Instagram. “Live after party from the amazing @alicebarbris!” he captioned the clip, thanking Australia and the Pandemonium Rocks festival for an incredible tour.
Meanwhile, Debbie Harry, the iconic frontwoman of Blondie, took a different approach to her downtime in Australia. Spotted browsing souvenirs in Sydney, Harry opted for a more low-key experience, picking out cuddly koala toys and kangaroo keychains. While Harry may be a rock legend, it seems she also has a soft spot for Aussie wildlife.
