Metallica has announced a partnership with Australian Red Cross Lifeblood as they gear up for their Australian tour in November. The collaboration aims to raise awareness about the importance of blood and plasma donation. Fans who donate at selected CBD donor centers leading up to each tour date will receive a special Metallica t-shirt, courtesy of Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands.
During their recent US tour, Metallica and All Within My Hands Foundation collected over 2,000 blood and platelet donations in partnership with the Red Cross. The impact of a single donation can save up to three lives, supporting individuals with various medical needs such as cancer patients, trauma victims, and those undergoing surgeries.
For fans with tattoos, the eligibility to donate blood and plasma is likely, with plasma donation possible immediately after getting a tattoo at a registered parlour in Australia. Blood and platelet donations are typically accepted after a week post-tattoo. Interested donors can visit the Lifeblood website or contact 13 14 95 for more information or to schedule a donation.
Australian Red Cross Lifeblood’s Executive Director of Donor Experience, Cath Stone, commended Metallica and their foundation for encouraging fans to donate blood and plasma, emphasizing the lifesaving impact such initiatives have on individuals and families. With blood and plasma demand at record highs, Stone hopes Metallica’s fanbase will contribute significantly to meeting donation needs.
Metallica’s upcoming tour in Australia and New Zealand marks their return after 12 years, where they will share the stage with special guests Evanescence and Suicidal Tendencies. The tour will feature performances in stadiums across various cities, including Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, and Auckland in New Zealand.
As Metallica continues to engage with their fans through music and philanthropy, their partnership with Australian Red Cross Lifeblood exemplifies their commitment to making a positive impact in communities worldwide. The band’s influence extends beyond the stage, inspiring fans to support causes that save lives and promote well-being.
This collaboration not only highlights the importance of blood and plasma donation but also showcases the power of music to unite people for a common cause. Metallica’s efforts to encourage their fans to participate in charitable acts serve as a reminder of the profound impact individuals and organizations can have when they come together for a greater good.
